The Catholic Daughters Oregon courts have
chosen to sponsor our men and women in the Baker Diocese, and the Portland Archdiocese, who have chosen the calling to become
priests, deacons, and women of religious orders. We pray for them, correspond with them, and even meet them for lunch
at the Mt. Angel Seminary on occasion.
We hold an annual Basket Raffle, known as the Very Reverend Joseph B. Hayes Memorial Fund, and each court supports
these efforts with their own court donations. These monies assist the men and women enrolled; helping defray the
costs of books, tuition, dorm life, healthcare, and basic needs they may run into. (Seminarians ARE college students!)
Some are VERY far from home, we have a few from as far away as Samoa! These men and women are vital to carry on the Word and works of God.
The Catholic Daughters are very honored to be a part of their religious life. Please pray for them, and if you feel inclined to assist in their studies,
please contact the State Regent, Mary Saunders; or the Seminarian State Chairman, Dorothy Gall.

Catholic Daughters Adopt-A-Seminarian program
guidelines for gift-giving are as follows:
The courts are welcome to send a
card, letters, phone cards, stamps, or anything that will fit in to a 9x12 envelope, no larger. Any monies sent for the Seminarians should be addressed to Fr. Paperini,
(with a report sent to the State Regent), or sent to the State Court, earmarked the Seminary Special Needs fund, as there
are many men that need the financial support for health care, toiletries, etc. These will be distributed to the most in need.
Any baked goods should be planned for the Holiday Cookie day
just before Christmas break, and End-of-the-year Finals, coordinated by the Abbey and the CDA Chairperson.
There are no such restrictions on the Adopt-A-Sister Program.
